SOME KIND OF HOLIDAY, one hour lighthearted MUSICAL Christmas play, including well known Christmas carols and worship music, is suitable for family audiences. An original Christmas Carol is also included. Roles are suitable for 8 EITHER GENDER, 2 MALE, 2 FEMALE, optional CHOIR, optional CHILDREN’S CHOIR, optional TODDLERS
The time and place are any town and present day. While dancing in her living room to the latest hit, a virgin, Mary, is visited by the Angel Gabriel. He tells her that she is going to give birth to God’s baby, Jesus, but she will have to hide. Plus, her elderly Aunt Elizabeth is expecting a baby. Mary visits her aunt to verify the embarrassing information. In the doctor’s office waiting room, Elizabeth’s husband, Zechariah, receives a miracle. The nurse takes a video to post because she is good with anything viral. Even though Mary is about to deliver, Joseph drives with his fiance’ to his hometown. She binge eats and complains. At a campfire on a sheep ranch, Mark and Matthew Shepherd are visited by the Angel. He directs them to a barn. It’s filled with everyone involved, including three professors who found out how to meet Jesus. Mary says that knowing Jesus is even better than getting a new phone. The little Cherubs and Angels sing. The audience may join the singing.

STAR, ninety minute lighthearted musical comedy stage play, including well known public domain songs, is suitable for family audiences. Some original music (by Liv Dietrich) is also included. STAR can be produced with either a small cast of 8 or a large cast, with no doubling, of 33 including small singing groups of 4 or 6. The 5 MALE and 3 FEMALE roles may also do 5 EITHER GENDER (tripled) roles.
STAR is set in the interior/exterior courtyard of the Caesar’s Palace Hotel, Las Vegas, present day. Well known singing stars of the past are the lead characters in this comedy portrayal of the Biblical Book of Esther.
Elvis, the King, plans a beauty pageant to choose a new Queen. Cher, a beautiful orphan, prepares for the pageant, helped by Elton John, and singing groups, The Back Street Boys and ‘N Sync. Cher is chosen as the new Queen. Her father, Johnny Cash, discovers a plot by Hulk Hogan and Arnold Swarzneger to kill Elvis. Gene Simmons plots to kill Johnny Cash as well as all Jews, everywhere. Lawyers and Astrologers give their lopsided advice about everything. Cher holds banquets to plead with Elvis to save Cash, herself, and all Jews. Simmons confers with Madonna and Lady Gaga but his plans are thwarted and he receives a death sentence. Johnny Cash, Cher and the Jews are vindicated. The audience is invited to join the singing.
