I TRIED

Here is a song or poem written from a male perspective but you could change the pronouns to suit you. The song is self explanatory. There really aren’t any hidden meanings. I hope to like it.

January 29, 2019 3am (woke myself up saying this out loud)    Ruth Squires

I TRIED

I tried to give you a hyacinth

With its purple pungent smell

But you refused the flower

What your problem was

I couldn’t tell

I tried to give you a kitten

With its soft white furry face

But you refused the darling

Saying she would

Stink up your place

I tried to give you a necklace

With shiny creamy pearls

But you refused its beauty

Saying you don’t like jewelry

You’re not like other girls

I tried to give you chocolates

With creamy crunchy centers

But you refused confections

Saying you abhorred

Such sweet affection

I tried to give you truth

The Word tied up with bows

But you refused to listen

What your problem was

I will never know.
